Celebrations, Fish in a Tie and Salmon Roulade.

Recently, my girlfriend had some wonderful news so we had to celebrate. The day the news came was a Thursday. We went to a restaurant named Fish in a Tie, Mediterranean restaurant, in Clapham Junction. The place is tasty and cheap! Don’t be put off by the word cheap. I will use the phrase awesome value for money instead. Two courses for £12 is great value for money!

We bought a bottle of Chablis to celebrate (at £21 from a restaurant – once again awesome value for money)

My girlfriend went for Al La Carte.

For starter, she had halloumi.

For main, she had duck breast.

I went for the 2 for £12 option.

I had Duck Salad for Starter

The food was lovely! It is not perfectly presented. It has not had 30 different cooking techniques. It is nice tasty food, cooked well and at a very very very reasonable price!

The next day the celebrations continued as I cooked her a surprise meal and bought her a small bottle of Moet champagne to celebrate! I also bought a small bottle of prosecco (good tip – good stuff first, then the cheap stuff). I forgot to light some candles for the meal but overall I thought it was a great surprise meal and night.

The main was Steak, Fondant Potatoes and red wine Jus.

The dessert was Lemon Drizzle cake

The starter was a Salmon Roulade.

It was tasty, a great sophisticated starter but also, be warned, it was expensive to make. It is definitely a treat to make on a very special occasion.

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 0 minutes

Ingredients:
Smoked salmon slices (lots and lots)
Tub of mascarpone
2 spring onions, very finely sliced
1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
1 tsp cayenne pepper
½ lemon, juice of.
Salt and pepper.
Toast

Method:
Place a sheet of cling film on a work surface, large enough to fit in a loaf tin.
Lay the smoked salmon slices in a rectangle, overlapping the slices.
Place in the loaf tin.
Mix together the mascarpone, spring onions, dill, cayenne pepper, lemon and seasoning.
Spread the mixture over the salmon.
Encase the mixture with more smoked salmon.
Place in the fridge for an hour at least, or not and eat straight away.

Serve!
